Privacy Policy – LiveTools

LiveTools is an application for musicians, audio engineers and other users working with live music and audio. This Privacy Policy explains what personal, technical and device data LiveTools processes, why it is processed, where it is processed and how users can exercise their rights.

2. Local-First Use

Core LiveTools features are designed to work locally on the user’s device. Settings, setlists, song information, reading preferences and other application data may be stored locally on the device.

The metronome, tuner, sound-level tools, spectrum analysis and similar audio functions generally process the data required for their operation directly on the device. These measurement functions do not upload microphone audio to Kohler Motion and do not use microphone content for advertising.

3. Microphone and Audio Inputs

Certain features require access to the device microphone or to a compatible external audio input. Access is requested through the operating system and is used only to provide the relevant tuning, measurement or analysis functionality.

Unless the user explicitly chooses an export or sharing function, LiveTools does not record or transmit the live microphone stream used by these measurement functions.

4. Network, Wi-Fi and Local Network Information

Wi-Fi and stage-network features may process technical information such as the connected network name (SSID), network identifiers, signal level, channel or frequency information, IP addressing, latency, jitter, packet loss and reachability, to the extent the operating system makes such information available.

Android and iOS may protect Wi-Fi information using permissions that are labelled as location or nearby-device access. LiveTools uses these permissions only to obtain the network information required for the Wi-Fi and stage-network tools. LiveTools does not use these permissions to track, store or transmit the user’s physical location.

5. Optional Accounts and Cloud Services

LiveTools can be distributed with cloud and band-synchronization features disabled. If account or cloud functionality is enabled, users may create a LiveTools account or use a guest identity and may choose to synchronize selected data.

Depending on the enabled features, the following information may be processed:

email address and authentication data;
technical user identifier;
band name, membership and invitation information;
setlists, songs and related data selected for synchronization.

LiveTools uses Google Firebase services for optional authentication and cloud functionality, including Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. Firebase Authentication is operated from data centers in the United States. Other Firebase services may use Google infrastructure in selected or global locations depending on the configured service and resource location.

6. International Data Transfers

Where optional cloud services are enabled, personal data may be processed outside Switzerland, including in the United States and other countries in which Google or its service providers operate infrastructure. Where required, Kohler Motion relies on applicable adequacy mechanisms and/or contractual safeguards provided by the relevant service provider.

7. Purchases

Mobile purchases are processed through the in-app purchase system of the relevant platform, particularly Google Play or the Apple App Store. Kohler Motion does not directly receive or store complete payment-card information. LiveTools processes only the purchase information necessary to determine, restore and display access to purchased features.

8. Sharing of Data

Kohler Motion does not sell personal data. Data is disclosed to platform or service providers only where necessary to provide the relevant functionality, for example Google/Firebase, Google Play or Apple. If band synchronization is enabled, information a user chooses to share may be accessible to authorized members of the relevant band workspace.

9. Legal Bases Where the GDPR Applies

Where the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation applies, processing is based as appropriate on performance of a contract or requested service, the user’s consent for device permissions or optional functionality, compliance with legal obligations, and legitimate interests such as providing, securing and improving LiveTools, provided those interests are not overridden by the user’s rights and freedoms.

10. Data Security

LiveTools follows a local-first approach where practical. Network traffic to supported cloud and platform services uses encrypted connections provided by the relevant platforms. Cloud access is restricted through authentication and authorization rules. No security measure can guarantee absolute security, but Kohler Motion takes reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the data and the service.

11. Data Retention

Locally stored data generally remains on the user’s device until it is deleted by the user, removed through application functionality, or the application data is deleted. Account and cloud data is retained only for as long as necessary to provide the relevant functionality, maintain shared band content where other authorized users depend on it, or comply with legal, security or fraud-prevention obligations.

12. Account and Data Deletion

If LiveTools account functionality is enabled, users can initiate deletion from within LiveTools. Users who no longer have access to the app may also request deletion through:

Deleting an account removes the authentication identity and associated personal cloud records that are not required to be retained. Where a user owns a shared band workspace, ownership may be transferred to another authorized member so shared content can remain available. If no other member depends on the workspace, associated cloud content may be removed. Information that must be retained for legal, security or fraud-prevention reasons may be kept only for the necessary period.

13. User Rights

Subject to applicable law, users may request information about personal data processed by Kohler Motion and may request correction or deletion. Where the GDPR applies, additional rights may include restriction of processing, data portability and objection to certain processing. Users may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data-protection authority.

This Privacy Policy may be updated when LiveTools functionality, service providers or legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page.
